Eastbourne, Winchester and Oxford

June 11
Spring arrived right on schedule, the three of us went for a walk to the Eastbourne's picturesque and sunny sea front.

Looking back on the hill that we miserably descended the previous afternoon. It looks so beautiful today!

Caroline and Spring
Eastbourne Pleasure Pier in the background.

Spring and me.
We have been friends since we both worked for BCTel in Victoria in 1974.

From the Pier

We loved the scalloped trim on these townhouses.

We took the train(s 3 of them!) back to Caroline's home in Bransgore where Sara had a delicious vegan dinner ready for us. Thank you Sara!!!

Happy Birthday Brian!

Back to the wonderful city of Winchester.
Winchester Cathedral

Spring and me at the city gate.
A yummy lunch at Forte Kitchen, a well hidden gem.

Since it was a cool drizzly day ...
heaven forbid we have 2 consecutive sunny days...
we went to see Rocket Man.
Loved the movie
Love Elton John
He really did not have a PG life.
The theatre seats were comfy couches.

Again Sara made us another healthy vegan dinner.

June 13
Now it is time to leave Caroline and Sara and venture out on our own.

First stop Oxford
Setting for both The Morse and The Lewis Mystery series.

Arrived in the rain so we took a taxi to Heather House B & B

Punting by The Magdalen Bridge.

This is (I think) Queen's College.

Radcliffe Camera
Is actually a library

Spring needs a rain hat.

Oxford Castle and Prison

Oxford is very busy with traffic, both cars,  and bikes as well as pedestrians.
Of course the city is full of students.
We stopped at one point for a cuppa, holy noisy young people Batman. There were not that many customers in the cafe but we had to yell to hear each other.

Since we had a large expensive lunch at a nice vegan restaurant and the fact that we were tired (walked 10 km on pavement), we elected to have a modest dinner back at the B&B.

We have all day tomorrow to explore this gracious old city.
