Petit Poynings

South Downs Way Day 6
Upper Beeding to Poynings
7 miles/ 11 kms

Well it is fortunate that I got two lamb photos yesterday. The only sheep that were about today were miserably huddled together at the far end of a field.
Kind of what we felt like.
This morning Caroline brilliantly navigated us back to the Downs from Upper Beeding. As we climbed the rain came at us with increasing force and increasingly sideways.
But still, the views are lovely. It doesn't get this green without life giving rain.
We had planned that today would be a short day. Perfect timing ... The shortest distance on the worst weather day, how lucky are we!

Wet through but still smiling.
Cuz we are on the downward slope towards our next B&B, Dyke Lane Cottage in the tiny village of Poynings. The cottage was built in the 17th century.
Mike met us at the door with newspaper to insert into my wet boots and a drying cupboard (in with the hot water heater) for our waterproof (usually waterproof but today, not so much) gear. Oh and 2 family dogs.
The family is away overnight so we have the keys and will manage tomorrow morning's breakfast.

A quaint garage in Poynings
The quaint village of Poynings boasts a pub (we are going there for dinner), a church and a garage.
That's all folks.

The Royal Oak Pub
They actually have a separate menu of gins!
Caroline is in her Happy Place.

Another delicious vegan meal!

Polka Dot Poppies

And that's a wrap.
Wet and windy but we soon got to a welcoming warm and dry B&B ....
.... so another great day.
