Me Gusto Comer

Today we walked 27 kms, mostly walking in a westward direction instead of our usual north,  to arrive in the prosperous town of Rionegro del Puente.
The Albergue sleeps 30, we arrived late but were in time to claim the last 2 lower bunks.

The first few cold kms of the day were through poplar plantings and clearcuts, it was not so nice but the way was flat and easy walking.

11 kms along, at about 9:30am we arrived in the village of Calzadilla de Tera. We attempted to find anything open but the town was shut up tight .... even the church (not the one pictured above).. and this is Sunday morning.

Next a lovely walk along a canal for 2 kms to the village of Olleros de Tera. There were signs advertising breakfast desayuno fruhstuck at the Albergue, our tummys were rumbling but no ... that too was locked up tight.
We later learned that the owner had died a year ago, her family are having difficulties running the business.

We made use of their tables and chairs and we enjoyed food from our pack and water.
          An interesting irrigation system.
Church in the distance "In The Middle of NoWhere"
From here the terrain was open land. There were small patches of bare fields separated by fruit trees. I am thinking apples.

The path headed towards a church in The Middle of NoWhere. I peeked inside the church, it was in daily use ... just not on Sundays it seems.

Beside the church In Middle of NoWhere.
Camino path alongside.
This little yellow bird was singing its heart out putting a bounce in my step

The small albergue in Villar de Farfon provides tea coffee and cookies to passing pilgrims. You donate what you feel is appropriate. It is run by missionaries so a sermon was given for no extra charge.

Heather, I think this is the place where you finally found an open albergue after walking 45 kms.
Then refreshed and rested we continued on this lovely path for the last 6 kms.
Heather everywhere, even in the road.

The Albergue in Rionegro del Puente, in a renivated medieval building. It is close to a bar and right across the street from an excellent restaurant that Danielle had discovered. We shared our table with a man from Korea. He is travelling alone and seems quite lonely. We shared photos and stories of our families and are now Camino Amigos.
