Sunrise to Start Another Perfect Day

What an amazing day in the Spanish sunshine. Our first steps gained us gorgeous views.

A few weeks ago I was commenting on how flat the terrain has been. Boy, we are making up for it now. A good uphill first thing which warmed us up, then steep downhill, walked along a valley floor then finished (or thought we finished) with a challenging steep uphill.

We see many crosses.

Ar this point we were on this gravel road.

Some of the impressive AVE (train) works.

This area reminded me of home, complete with chainsaw noise in the distance. Lovely to be back in the forest.

In As Eiras
We hit two well known way stops on today's camino. The first is this welcoming donativo coffee stand. Classical music was playing, there were thermoses of coffee and hot water, cookies and fruit.

A small village on the hillside

This was in the fairly large town of Laza. These 4 cows were being lad out of town on the camino by their master on his bike.

Traffic jam occurred when we met another bunch coming toward us.

Looking Back to Admire the View.

These fence posts are large pieces of slate wedged into the ground. It is a common fence post in this part of Spain.

Sheep watching the pilgrims go by.

The (what we thought was) the final push. 2PM and it was hot hot hot. I drank all my water, was down to the last drop once I arrived at the albergue.

Our plan was to stay at the albergue in Albergueria, that was 26 kms, enough.
The rumour that we had heard was true, the albergue was closed for renovations. We all enjoyed a quick ham and cheese sandwich in this 2nd well known stop. Every customer writes their name and country on a shell to be hung on the walls, on the ceiling, I didn't see any vacant space for more.
Again Danielle was exhausted. The cafe owner kindly drove her to the next town 7 kms away. Martina and I still had energy so we happily walked. Altho it did seem like further than 7 kms.

Gotta go, the bar is closing.
