Santiago Rest Day

First order of the day, after an excellent included breakfast at the hotel, was to obtain our hard earned compostela certificate from the camino office.
The lineup was long but we passed the time talking to pilgrims around us, comparing different experiences on different caminos.

Back to the main square where we ran into our friend Chang Ho.

Here we are displaying our certificates. We both paid extra to have the personalized document with the name of the camino, distance and start and end dates.

Next to church where we attended the noon mass. All seats quickly filled and the acoustics were great. One of the priests talked slowly and clearly so that even I could understand much of what was said.

On our way back through the main square we ran into Janson from Denmark who we had met in Ourense. His daughter had joined him there so they walked the last 100 kms together.

Annie of Luxembourg.
(She is 74)

This is the unimpressive looking exterior of our accommodation.

We brought Chang Ho and Martina back to our hotel for a delicious lunch. We had many laughs, the waiter was also very funny and added to the enjoyment.

I spent the afternoon embroiled in a travel glitch ... Brittany Ferries has cancelled my sailing. I will now be flying instead and then, I think, a long train journey with many changes. Ah well, that is travel n'est ce pas?!

The compostela office had given us 7pm tickets to view the portico of the closed cathedral. No pics allowed.

I spent the evening with my friend Jennifer from Victoria and her friend Diana who lives and works in Malaga.
Jennifer, her 3 siblings and her 88 year old father had just walked to Finisterre and Muxia to celebrate the life of their mother/ wife. What a touching tribute.

What's next? Stay tuned.
More walking tomorrow.
