Los 3 Amigos

Ahead of us by 1 day on the camino is a man born in 1932! Mom, you could have come with me! We are trying to catch up to him.
The courtyard of the lovely albergue in Fuente de Cantos. Staff had kindly put out newspapers to dry the inside of our boots.

The rain started just as we departed Fuente de Cantos. We had been served breakfast at El Zaguan de la Plata albergue, consisting of the usual white bread, jam, coffee au lait, tea and hot chocolate and I had slept very well. All set for a buen camino day.
Karin from Austria and Richard from Florida during a break in the rain. The sky looks promising but no no no.
(another) Karin and Geert from Belguim. Friends of the Camino had kindly placed a simple bridge over a particularly wet bit.

We passed through farmland of olive trees, grain, hay and grapes. All very beautiful between rainfalls. We saw very few creatures except for the many birds cheering us along, a few storks and millions of slugs loving the muddy conditions.
A break cut short by you guessed it .. rain.
We stopped for a bocadillo 4 kms before Zafra in Puebla de Sancho Perez. This view was just outside the bar. Oh and the bocadillas were quite good with fresh warm (white) bread. Keith you would love the food here.
A pretty front patio as we left Puebla de Sancho Perez.
The castle in Zafra. We hurried back to the albergue at this point cuz yup rain again.
My sunny out look regarding the rain is waning. Just in time as the forecast for tomorrow is sunny with cloudy periods.

We are staying at the Albergue Vincent Van Gogh (see photo below), it is quite large with at least 30 beds.

Breakfast is again included, the price is 12€.  There is usually a laundry sink and a terrace with clotheslines to hang clothes to dry. The drying part has been difficult in this wet stretch so we tend to wear the same clothes repeatedly.
Since I went out for lunch and since I had leftover salad fixings that needed to be used I threw together a salad for my dinner. As is usual, there is a kitchen here and a couple of  tables for pilgrims to gather at. Vegetables are so inexpensive here and thankfully they are also readily available.
