Three Camino Angels

Thursday

The internet failed before I could post yesterday and we have no wifi this evening in Morille. For some unknown reason my phone service and internet is no more. In Salamanca I will be visiting the Orange office.

Today Danielle, Lonny and I set out at dawn at 7:15. It was raining hard and continued raining for most of the morning. The sun came out as we reached the 18 km point at the small village of Pedrosilla de las Aires where we found a bar. There was no food available but the owner had no problem with us ordering coffees and eating food from our packs. We stayed there for about an hour and had a good chat. Of course the sun changed back to rain as soon as we left. Oh and we could not find our way out of town as there were no yellow arrows that we could see.

Iz and Jesus
The next small village, Monterrubio de la Sierra, was only another 5kms further. We had just entered the town when a woman came rushing out and invited us into her home. First we left all of our wet gear in their beautiful art studio then entered their home which they had designed and renovated using wood from the original dwelling. Iz was her name, she spoke little English but wasn't at all shy about speaking it. Both she and Danielle have a sense of joie de vivre so the conversation was animated. Iz shared her home with husband Juan Carlos and another gentleman named Jesus. They made us tea and coffees and fed us an array of homemade baking. Before we left Iz showed us around their artistic home and then sent us on our way with muffins and apples. These kind folks are camino angels, we happened upon them as our spirits were beginning to flag due to the weather. We had it all today; rain, wind, hail, snow and sunshine.
We walked a total of 30 kms to the small town of Morille. At what we thought was the albergue was a note to get the key from Bar Marcos which we easily found. There is a new albergue however, once we registered and payed at the bar one of the employees gave us the key and walked us to the location. 2 other pilgrims later joined us.
After showers we went to the bar for wine and a pilgrim dinner.
The temperatures here are again well below normal. According to Lonny The Nederlands are enjoying unusually hot temperatures. Oh well, "It belongs to the camino
